Letter between Warnik & Gundor

Althort has eventually agreed to the deal. It is a bit more risky than he was initially prepared to accept but it is amazing how a little appropriate persuasion works. He will act as courier. I know him well as he has done mapping work for me in the past and a little light smuggling. I trust him not to blab. It is not worth him risking our ‘friendship’ if you know what I mean. Fortunately, or unfortunately he does draw attention to himself by his eccentric manner, and fairly rich way of dressing, and fine black horse but people just think of him as this daft mapmaker. Yet, he is well-known so shouldn’t be suspected. . Have contrived ways of getting letters to our people in the villages. Althort will deliver them. Don’t think he suspects anything. Return a sealed reply on this parchment so I know you got this.

Got this note late… your courier appears to have been ill for a month. I agree, he is an ideal mule and is obviously not nosy. Letter received with seal intact. Our masters are getting ready. The people in the remoter areas are starting to live in fear of the surprises we are arranging and word has got to me that the drove road is less well travelled. Canusa doing a good job of scaring folk off but I am not convinced her heart is in the task. We need to keep an eye to her, don’t want her going back to her clan. She won’t be too happy.
By the way, given Althort a new saddle cloth with our emblem so our people on the drove road don’t attack. I’ll flay them alive if I hear they do!
